The Experience
The Patagonia Challenge is a one-of-a-kind adventure.
It combines the raw thrill of driving a nearly 100-year-old Argentinian Baquet racing car across 2,000 kilometers of stunning and varied Patagonian terrain.
The Baquet holds a special place in Argentina’s motorsport history—born from the pioneering spirit of the early endurance racing culture, Fuerza Libre and Turismo Carretera. These cars are stripped down, open- bodied machines with exposed wheels and low-slung silhouettes, echoing the 1930s era of fearless drivers and dusty tracks.
For seven days, we journey through an ever-shifting landscape: from the dry, wind-swept steppe of southern Mendoza, to the rising foothills of the Andes; from volcanic plains to pristine forests and glassy lakes in the Bariloche region.
We’ll pass through timeless villages and open countryside, far from routine, closer to something essential. Throughout it all, we’ll share Argentina’s famed hospitality: exceptional food, unforgettable wines, open skies and quiet roads.
The Patagonia Challenge is a crafted adventure.
An invitation to experience not just the land, but the spirit of Patagonia — and the legacy of Argentina’s driving culture.
Patagonia
Argentina’s south is a region of great natural beauty and extraordinary biodiversity. But it is also wild, vast, and difficult.
A challenging destination — not just for exploration, but for life itself.
A friend once told me: “Life is more beautiful from the seat of a Baquet.”
The wind on your face. The open sky. The pure air. The soil. The Patagonian immensity: snow, volcanoes, lakes, rivers… and the warmth of its people.
This year’s challenge was to follow a variety of demanding roads from San Rafael, Mendoza to San Carlos de Bariloche, with the iconic Route 40 as our main axis.
But beyond the odyssey of driving a 1930 car through unpredictable terrain and changing climates, my personal challenge was something else:
To inspire them to fully live each kilometer of the journey.
Time doesn’t stop. It moves faster than our Baquets. But the memories last longer.
The Argentine national anthem repeats a single word three times: libertad, libertad, libertad… and that’s exactly what you feel when you drive a Baquet through the roads of the Argentine South.
